چکیده

Abstract Background Lesions involving the skull base can be approached by a variety of surgical corridors and extended frontobasal approach is one them. It provides quite wide exposure to lesions in midline anterior base, paranasal sinuses, sphenoclival region. Objective To share our experience, list merits demerits, this for lesions. Methods A total six cases were operated using approach. Four them tumors with extensive involvement paranansal sinuses extension into sellar, parasellar, clival Fronto-orbital sphenoethmoidal osteotomy provided adequate access, thereby facilitating their excision. Two frontonaso-orbital encephalocele large bone defect at also upon. Skull repair was performed autologous graft, pericranium, fibrin glue. Results Gross excision achieved four good cosmesis as transfacial access obviated. Excision, repair, reconstruction two patients done acceptable cosmesis. Conclusion The an excellent alternative (up posterior base), malformative base.

We report our experience with a supraorbital eyebrow minicraniotomy. This technique is suitable to lesions situated in the region of the anterior fossa, suprasellar cisterns, parasellar region and Sylvian fissure. A 50 mm incision in the eyebrow and a supraorbital minicraniotomy is performed. Sixteem patients harboring different lesions were operated on with good postoperative and cosmetic resu...

Extended Transbasal Approach to Skull Base Tumors

A variety of novel surgical approaches have been developed in recent years to manage disease of the cranial base. Few offer the width and depth of exposure achievable with the extended transbasal approach. This approach combines a bifrontal craniotomy with an orbitonasal or orbitonasoethmoidal osteotomy, and potentially a sphenoethmoidotomy to provide broad access to malignancies of the anterio...
